Another delicious option for filling in tong yuen/tangyuan. Sweet, nutty and slightly crunchy this filling matches nicely with glutinous rice desserts.
White Sesame and Peanut Filling
Suggested filling in tong yuen/tangyuan, sesame balls, and mochi.
Ingredients (makes about 1 1/2 cups)
1/2 cup roasted peanuts
3/4 cup toasted white sesame seeds
1/4 cup sugar
4-5 Tablespoons peanut butter, softened butter or coconut oil
Directions
Place peanuts in a food processor or blender and pulse until almost fine. Add toasted sesame seeds and sugar and pulse until fine but do not over process. Add peanut butter, softened butter or coconut oil, more if you want it to stick together and mix until evenly combined. It is okay if it is a bit loose. The filling is ready to use. If you are not going to use it right away, transfer to a zip top bag or an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
